Homegrown Co. Branding

I'm so excited to share with you the quick journey through this little branding project that I've just completed.
While awesome (if I do say so, myself) this is a great example of the difficulties of communication through e-mail. Jen already had a pretty set logo, of which I was unaware (or maybe just confused). So what you see here is the from-scratch logo and icon work I came up with for her.
We then came to the understanding (or, well, I did...) that really all Jen needed was to pull everything together. I re-created her already existing logo for the index card she requested.

She loved it. Of course she did! It was her logo already. I can't take credit, really, for that.
I can only take credit for choosing Archer as the font for the H.G.C.O.
Then I got started on a calligraphy "Homegrown Co." for her business card, blog, Etsy shop, whatever else she wanted to use...

Pretty, but not clean enough. But Jen REALLY loved the Archer font. So, how about we just stick with that, for everything?

Great! Perfect! Done. Almost.
She also knew she wanted to tie in some tribal pattern work for the backs of her index and business card. This part was super fun.

The whole brand-new-branding-that-wasn't-actually-needed actually turned out to be a happy accident! Even though she did not end up using it, I'm really pleased with how it turned out. This has helped to prove to me that I do belong in the world of branding design—something I wasn't convinced of until after this project.
I've since been part of a few other branding projects, and will share those soon!

  1. This is LOVELY! Adore the handmade feel of the type and design elements. Great example of how to work through the communication issues successfully. Thanks for sharing!
